Age and Para Race Categories

The following Age Categories are offered over 2000m and 500mdistances.Competitors may enter and race “in-person”in Praguewithout needing to qualify in advance. 15 competitorsper race categorymayalso qualify to race virtually through qualification in advance (see below). 

For 2024, the following age categories will apply for both World Rowing and European Rowing Indoor Championships.

Team Event categories

The following Team events open for entry and will take place as hybrid events. This means that teams can race in-person (without needed to qualify in advance), or teams can race virtually by qualifying in advance. See eligibility criteria below.

Mixed Team 2 Men, 2Women Format: 2000m relay, switching every 250m. All teammates will row twice, but must switch every 250m. Teams can switch rowers however they wish (and can assist one another with foot straps, handle, and seat). 

 

Eligibility for the WRICH/ERICH

Age Eligibility

The age eligibility of an athlete is determined by their age on the date of the WRICH race in which they are competing (either 23rdor 24thFebruary).

Competitor Categories

Individual Races
Race distances at  the WRICH 2024 include 2000 meters and 500 meters.  Competitors racing in-person at the venue in O2 universum Hall. 

Team Relay
2000 meters for crews of four individuals in Men’s, Women’s and Mixed. Competitors switched every 250 meters. 

Versa Challenge
The Versa was a new event introduced by World Rowing in 2023. Twenty athletes (10 men and 10 women) performed 4 indoor rowing challenges over two days. All challenges  used the Concept2 ergometer, shorter and longer distances with a twist here and there.  The challenges completed included the Beep, Key Speed, the Pentagon and Bullseye. The details of each challenge were kept secret until just before race weekend. 
The 20 athletes chosen to be the Versa Challengers, will be selected based on two qualification scores completed in November 2023. 

Para Categories
Para categories PR1, PR2, PR3 and PR3-II will be offered in-person. World Rowing will accept internationally or nationally classified athletes. Athletes must have requested Para Classification prior to January 15, 2024. 

 

International Competitors

International competitors, regardless of whether they are members of a club or association affiliated with a national rowing federation that is a World Rowing member, shall be responsible for their own adequate medical and accident insurance, as well as insurance covering liability, property and equipment.
Race Cards will be issued to competitors on Thursday, February 22 from 18:00 to 20:00 hrs and on Friday and Saturday, February 23 - 24 from 7:00 hrs at Athlete Check-in at the race venue (O2 universum Hall, Prague). Race Cards will be available for pick up by Club Affiliation.
Unaffiliated rowers will pick up Race Cards under the listing “Unaffiliated” and then by name. Race cards must be picked up no later than one hour prior to race time.
Competitors will be required to show their Race Card in order to weigh-in and to enter the Competition Floor.
Lightweight competitors must pick up their Race Cards before weighing in.

Visa Policy
The Czech Republic is part of the European Union (EU) and belongs to the Schengen Area. Many countries enjoy visa-free entry to the Czech Republic. However, citizens from some non-EU countries are required to have a valid visa when travelling to the
Schengen Area. If a visa is required, be sure to apply at least a month before your visit. More information on entrance to the Czech Republic can be found on the website:

Entry Information

All entries must be made online at RegattaCentral. Entry system opens on November 1, 2023 with an initial registration deadline on January 15, 2024. No refunds will be given once the initial registration period has ended. 

The final registration deadline is February 10, 2024. All entry fees must be paid in full by February 10, 2024. After this date, unpaid entries will be considered late entries and subject to the additional fees associated with such designation.

Entry Fees

Entry fee is EUR 35 for all individual events.

For the team relays and Slides (Four), the team entry fee is total EUR 50.00. A late additional fee of EUR 15.00 will be charged for any entries accepted during the Late Entry period (after January 15, 2024).
Entry fees become non-refundable on January 16, 2024.
A limited number of late entries might be accepted (depending on availability) at the Registration desk at the Competition Venue on February 22, 2024. This on-site registration will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis from 18:00 – 20:00 and up to 3 hours before the race time. The on-site entry fee is EUR 50.00 for single entries, EUR 70.00 total for the team relay and slides (Four).

All late entries must be submitted with complete information including name of competitor and date of birth. Relay entries must provide complete information for each member of the relay.

Withdrawals

Entries may be withdrawn without penalty until the end of the initial registration period on January 15, 2024.
Beginning January 16, 2024, no refunds will be given for withdrawals.
